Frist of all who ever did the packageing just found some boxes and taped them together. Box was to small for the knife with the guard on. So it tore at the blade point. I'm pleased with the ease of this chief knife's blade cutting and dicing but the handle is all plastic feel, something that gives me the willies . The fit is okay, I've got a medium size woman's hand , seems to me the handle is overly large and i'll bet my sons might like this chef's knife more than...

All that said, I'd recommend what most folks around here would, Victrinox Fibrox. They don't have a k-tip as far as I know, but at that price point you're not going to get a quality knife with anything other than a simple functional shape that's worth a damn.

Great everyday knife. Extremely sharp out of the box. It is a stamped blade and more fragile than a quality Japanese or German blade. But you can afford seven or eight of these knives for the price of one of those. By far the best chef's knife for the money.

Been a cook for over a decade and my bag is full of victorinox fibrox. Get an 8 inch chef, 10 inch bread knife, and a paring knife to start and build from there. As another poster mentioned Mercer is good as well, go for the Millennia line
