CRKT Pilar III Frame Lock vs Ka-Bar Folding Hunter Lockback Knife

It's not a 5 star knife because it does have issues. For example, the blade steel is not great; it's shape is interesting but a bit awkward to use. The pivot uses a nylon washer, which isn't as smooth as ball bearings and will probably wear out much sooner. But for 25 bucks or so, these issues are not greater than the look and feel of this knife (to me)

So that's not a bad price. For a K bar o'clock knife, you know of this style real g10. You know it's a decent knife, Canadian prices for this amazon.c...

Especially the finger cut out in the blade - arrived very sharp Cons - will not flip all the way open with a normal finger flick. I need to use my wrist to help flip the blade out. - upon closing the blade with one hand - unlock the frame lock and the blade easily starts to close. It gets slightly hung up on a detent of some kind so I need to give it an extra push

The pocket clip is ok . Easy to deploy the blade with the duel thumb stud . The finish on the metal is good . Handle slabs are decent

This is my first CRKT knife and the quality is great. I love the weight and feel of the knife. Its heavy for a little guy but I'm more concerned with durability over low weight. The blade has a nice sharp edge that easily rips thru boxes and other everyday items

G10 scales would have been lighter, which she does complain about the weight, even with the small Pilar, but the aesthetics overcomes the weight for her. However, the small Pilar doesn't come with G10, or seemly does not. The stainless scales are fine also, since we mostly find ourselves needing a knife in wet environments. Go figure

when i first opened the box i was happy its a beautiful knife heavy tho very heavy, after having it for a few day the tip of the knife broke off, all i was doing was cutting a box open it was a thick cardboard box, but as soon as applied a little pressure to the cut it snapped off , i know have to reshape the knife with my grinder and belt abrasive belt sharpner to give it a point again, in my opinion a 4 day old knife should not break from regular use, ka-bar is still one of my favorite knifes but not this one,

The handle has nicely rounded edges. But it's heavy for the size and thick. My problem is - what is it for? For an EDC in the office (wearing thinner dress pants), the size is perfect but it's pretty thick and heavy. You will be very aware of it and it's pretty visible through dress pants

Razor sharp. All metal coated in gray but handle is G10 I believe, very solid construction and no wiggle in the blade at all. Fits nicely in medium hand or large hand but maybe not suited for women hands for EDC. Belt clip is sturdy
