My brother found this knife… is it a good find?

Wow, for this price, you would expect this knife to come with a great edge. I, for the life of me, cannot figure out how all three dimensions were ground incorrectly. The edge thickness was miss ground, one side was cut deeper than the other and the overall length of the blade is horribly wavy. I would send it back, but I have so much time in it just trying to get it right

Buck is garbage. There are better steels, better ergos, better lock designs (for folder-folder comparisons), and better pricing for knives of similar quality. Buck sucks.

Still a great knife though

 Now, I will say, I like the knife, it's small, but the size is suited for hiding away, just not in my boots. Maybe in a loose fitting western boot. I have not tried the horizontal belt attachment yet, that may be what works for me.

Blade and holster are FABULOUS,,, Handle is VERY SMALL like 3 fingers. No I don't mean 3 1/2 or you can get a comfortable edge of your pinky on there. With the shape at the back end it's 3 fingers and no more. (Average Hands)

 It seems to me a precise grind is more important on a tanto blade. Bottom line is, I really like the 616, but there is ample competition for *much* less $$ (like the one mentioned earlier) out there if that is a factor for you.  Update: I did send the knife to the Buck lab to fix the grind. Pretty sure they just sent me back a new knife with a better grind

 I may send it to the Buck lab for fixing. The edge itself is fine, and I sharpen myself, but I’d not attempt to fix the wonky grind.  I like the setup now, but should I really need to buy extra stuff at this price point? So: plus one for the service on the grind and minus one for having to purchase a tek-lok to carry it = still 4 stars.

 The sheath is quite versatile and is where a lot of the price lives, I’d say. The 616 is my only knife able to adapt for boot carry. It is small as folks say (seen here with my crkt spew [@twenty bucks] for reference), but that is the point. It is incredibly sturdy, carries well scout style, and the whole package just feels substantial
