Excellent Knife - Just Wish The Clip Was Stronger

 That way, it does not ever fall open on its own. I carry my barrage in my pocket often and usually don't lock the blade shut with the switch on the knife, but it's probably a good practice to do. I've never had a problem though.  I'm not a huge fan of the plasticy scales (sides of the handle) that come with the knife, but I'd much rather have a stellar blade and locking mechanism than worry about the feel of the handles

 The axis locking mechanism is superb and holds the blade firmly in place with very little wiggle. With a pull on the release mechanism the blade is easy to close, and the way the release is positioned, it ensures your fingers are away from the blade as it's closing. But be careful as with any good knife -- it is sharp!!  The axis-assist open works very reliably and swiftly. As you use the thumb stud to push the blade out of the knife, it crosses a threshold (of about a centimeter open) where the knife opens on its own and locks into place

Great pocket knife

 It has a hollow plastic design that no doubt was to save weight due to the steel liners inside. Other reviews have pointed out that you get a cheap feeling due to this. I agree thus 4 stars instead of 5. I would have liked a more rubberized solid grip even at the expense of more weight! Put this into the Can't Get Everything You Want bucket

First off if you are not use to carrying a knife every day don't get an expensive knife right of the bat if you lose it you feel like crap and you don't have a backup. Get a couple of good inexpensive ones first like, Spyderco Centofante 3, Kershaw Chill, or Kershaw Skyline All of which I have carried for over 5 years. After a while go for the Benchmade 940, Microtech, or  Zero Tolerance.

First time knife buyer, what should I get?

  The blade steel is good. Came pretty sharp. Had a nice comfortable weight to it. But it's pin construction, as stated in the description

 Then the silver palladium accent on the handle began to tarnish. Which surprised me as I didn't particularly use this knife recklessly or let it sit dirty.  I'm less than fond of the handle material as it's not particularly grippy, and the design is only on one side of it. And its locking mechanism is a little difficult to access

 It'll be a bit cheaper and overall better quality and more usefulness.  Not as flashy, but in my opinion a better blade.

Okay knife. A bit overpriced.

Good knife, just minor flaws.

 The blade is particularly thin (certainly nothing I would want to do any wood chopping with) but don't let that deceive you VG10 is plenty strong and wouldn't have any trouble with slicing. And speaking of slicing- the hollow ground blade is easy to maintain and does slice very well. Holds an edge adequately. The FRN is acceptable but not overly "grippy" and I wont use it in water seeing that not only would the smooth FRN be slick and the construction is riveted (so if I get salt water in there is no way to dry it by disassembly)

 Might I also add that with this weight and intended use the spine lock and heavy jimping seem a little unnecessary but do add to the coolness factor.

A handsome EDC'er

 It's an old school Spyderco--FRN handle, VG10 blade with a hollow sabre grind, pinned construction without any pivot adjustments. Spyderco has been updating many of its models and it appears pinned construction is disappearing and hollow grinds are becoming rare. Despite some trepidation, I ordered the Centofante 3 and now I'm about as happy as can be. I'm so happy with the knife, I've ordered a second one

 Other steels surpass it in certain areas but VG10 is just a good, well-rounded blade steel. I'm not one to go gaga over what super steel is the in thing of the day. VG10 works for me.  No knife is perfect but I gotta give this one 5 stars

 It never disappoints. It's corrosion resistant, tough enough for most normal uses and it sharpens easily and holds an edge well. Other steels surpass it in certain areas but VG10 is just a good, well-rounded blade steel. I'm not one to go gaga over what super steel is the in thing of the day

 While lacking in the texture found on other Spydercos, the Centofante's handle is not particularly slippery. The FRN is a smooth matte finish that seems pretty grippy to me. It's certainly not slippery like smooth steel, aluminum or other metals.  What I particularly like about the Centofante is the narrower profile of the knife

 VG-10 is a Japanese steel and the majority of the cost here is in the blade steel. Some of my nitpicks are the overall finish on the knife, mainly the handle. There is leftover plastic along the seam, like it wasn't cleaned up very well. The same goes for the palladium Spyder, there is flash around it and it sits slightly off kilter

 The knife is made in Seki City, Japan. That isn't a con by any means. VG-10 is a Japanese steel and the majority of the cost here is in the blade steel. Some of my nitpicks are the overall finish on the knife, mainly the handle
