Buck Compadre Camp Knife Natural Canvas Micarta vs Kershaw Camp 18

I was worried that the recurve on the near-handle part of the blade would be a pain to sharpen, but given 1)how easy to sharpen this is, it was not a worry and 2) This blade cuts and cuts and cuts and does not need sharpening often at all. I bought a cheap $6 Arkansas stone sharpening rod and it took about 5 minutes to sharpen after a week of use preparing food and I did a fair bit of whittling for fun as well as a fair bit of actual abuse in regards to splitting/cutting some small sections of wood (up to about 1") I was worried the blade profile would be a problem but that does not appear to be the case. Overall I really like it and the knife is super versatile being just thin enough for food but thick enough to do harder tasks. Keeps an edge super well and sharpens easily = win in my book

The sheath is pretty good, also made in US, real leather and snaps closed. Overall really liking this well made Buck knife. Also bought the matching hatchet.

The knife is exactly as described on the site I found one problem which isn't all that terrible but it still is a problem any how the sheath itself takes and holds the knife too loosely for my taste I can probably remedy it but I just haven't figured what I will be doing just yet further review will reveal what I intend to do for now it is a very good knife well worth the price as compared to a few others

It was tough and based on the fact that Buck has never let me down, especially their awesome heat treat. Love this knife and the hatchet too. Micarta is very smooth and durable, finish isn’t obtrusive. The steel sharpens easily

The balance of the knife seem decent, The feel of the knife seem like it was cheap plastic, the blade seemed cheap also, I believe this knife is overpriced not worth it. Buck has really gone downhill in my opinion.

There is some rattle in the sheath and is made of ABS but it is pretty decent. I can't comment much on durability till a later date but TBH, at the price i can buy 3 of the for the price of a sturdy Esee Junglas (I know sizes are off but it's a reference). That gives me one two throw at anyone who has a snobby comment about the China steel, and one for each hand ;) It depends on what you use it for.

I am not a knife expert, but I can say that this Compadre Camp Knife feels great in the hand; is solid and built to last; is well-balanced; has a nice, durable black cerakote finish and is very sharp; fits well in a quality leather sheath; and is a convenient and useful length for use, carry, and stowing in clothes, gear, or storage. I look forward to a lifetime of use with this superb knife, and suggest it for its quality and value.

When you pick this little bad boy up you just know it means business. It's heavy, solid, and serious. If the zombie apocalypse happens in the near future, this will be the go-to machete I'll have strapped to my leg. A very nice machete at a good price
