 I'm hoping this smooths out over time.  Given that I absolutely love everything else about the Fastball, I'm gonna keep fiddling with it to see if it starts to wear down to a more reasonable level. If not, I may open it up and try to file down the nub, but that's risky.  But so far my search for the perfect knife continues

 And when it goes to close it, the blade hangs up on that detent and then SLAMS closed, so you better be sure to be clear or you're getting cut. And often it slams home with such force that it bounces back out. Several times, I've almost put it back in my pocket with the blade slightly open.  Also, the friction of the rough scale coating makes it difficult to get in and out of pocket

 The fit and finish is perfect. It feels good in the hand. The materials are quality. It wasn't too expensive, relatively speaking

 Now for the honest part. It isn't worth 100 dollars. The detent is way to strong, the grind is uneven as you can see from the picture, and the grip on the blade to flip it out is too aggressive (I belive a flaw in manufacturing due to the "gnarlyness" of it in picture). It hurts to open

 I'll still keep the knife, I just didn't think I was going to have to grind my own blade and adjust my own detent, and smooth out my flipper for 100 dollars. This will be my last Gerber, due to the fact that this is suppose to be their quality line. When a company tells me this is top teir stuff(with a price tag) and it isn't, I don't trust them anymore. Go buy a Kershaw or Spiderco

Overall, I'm happy with my folding cleaver and keep it with me all the time. I recommend it.

2) The knife is big but not heavy. I have other knives of similar size and design that feel almost twice as heavy both in my hand and my pocket. This one is thin enough and light enough that I can almost forget it is in my pocket. Doesn't block my hand from getting things out of my pocket

 That and the finger notch on the blade make it feel very comfortable in use and give it great control-ability.

1) The steel used for the blade is 7Cr17MoV which is a Chinese stainless steel formulated for lower price point items. By no means is it a bad steel. It has great stain resistance and is easier to sharpen. It is just not as hard (or as expensive) as premium grade steels and thus can,t hold an edge quite as long

I have had this knife for a fair bit of time now and have put it through its paces and developed likes and dislikes about it.

 The smooth aluminum handles are easy on your pockets, making the knife a joy to draw out and use. I think the carry-ability factor of this knife is another high point. 

Despite it’s non-traditional styling, the blade of the Fastball is fully functional. Reverse tantos can be among the best EDC knives. Just look at the Benchmade 940. Here we have a little less belly, but a low and fine tip

 Or maybe it is a study of triangles. I didn’t do particular well in Geometry. Looking back, that was the beginning of the end for me. My parents always wanted be to be a doctor, but I always struggled with math

Shirogorov Hation Zero  Pocketknife. Fablades Quick Review

 Nice knife enough knife enough to send in to me um. These are going to kyle dtom, knives and gear neck. So i wanted to kind of wrap this up, i'm just going to review them both at the same time because they're, both shiro's they're, both in the same line. This is the atr, and this is the heitian zero, so very similar just kind of a scaled down version of this

 It kind of has a little more of a swoop up and then that tip kind of straightens out. I feel like this one is more of a straight little belly and then up into that tip. I don't know if it's just me, but it just looks a little different on that blade shape more of a swoop in the top here as well. This is more of a straight line to the drop point um

 Are these knives 700 800 worth of knife? Yes, what goes into them the materials the fit and finish, i'm seeing here, the absolutely ridiculous action, the blade the the heat treat that i understand uh the cutting ability, which is very good on these, a good edge on it, uh pretty thin behind the edge it Cuts through paper very well uh, that's all i cut with it. So i can't speak to more than that, but i don't think most people are beating on their shiros um. You know, so i think value is just it's just the eye of the beholder type thing. Um, if you want a shiro and love shiro's

 I'M left-handed and i have no issues playing with this knife. Um. So no big deal left-handed. You can flick it out, just disengage, let it drop flick

Shirogorov Hati R & Hation Zero Full Review

 So it's a non-issue for me. But I have heard some rumors that that existed on some other Neons or Hations. It doesn't on mine, luckily. Yep, what else was I going to cover? We've got pricing

 Now to me, this is like practically in grail territory at $700. I can't go out and drop $1,500 on knives unless I do some kind of massive layaway payment plan because I'm one of the poor guys. So for me, when I purchase a knife that costs an excessive amount of money to me, $700, I really want everything to be very, very perfect on that knife. And this Shirogorov Hation Zero has hit that mark for me with flying colors in nearly every single aspect

 The build quality is superb. There are no problems. There is no play. There is no bad blade centering issues, no lock rock, no lock slip

 Good afternoon Knife Nerds, today we are taking a look at the beautiful Shirogorov Hoteon

 This knife has an overall length of 7.75 inches and a blade length of 3.375 inches.

 It is M390 steel, it is a titanium frame lock, and it has a carbon fiber show side and a

 titanium frame scale with a carbon fiber inlay.

 So onto the aesthetics of this knife, which I think are absolutely stunning.

 Let's talk about the blade here for a minute.

 The finish on this blade, with my terrible lighting if you can see that, is this amazing

 I'm not sure I've ever seen another company that accomplishes a bead blast quite like

 It's almost like it was ultra fine bead blasted and then somewhat polished, perhaps with walnut

 I don't really know how to explain it other than to show you that there is a slight bit

 So it's very different than other companies type of bead blast that I've seen in the past.

 I think it's sort of similar to like Konig, what they call their, I want to say they call

 it bright, no not bright washed, they call it burnished.

 They call it a burnished finish, and to me it looked like a bead blasted finish that

 I'm just going to get this dust off the blade here.
