The Imarku chef's knife is a decent all arounder that is a good introduction to Gyutou style knives. With less rocker than European-style chef's knives and typically thinner blades, it can take some adjusting to get used to working with Gyutou knives.  I mean drop a hair on it and it's sliced in two sharp. I just knocked out Thanksgiving dinner with it. It chopped all my veggies for dressing and carved the turkey with ease. Really a great tool and a long-overdue investment for my kitchen

 Even though I worked as a chef de cuisine for 30 years, it got me. But, a good sharp edge helps lessen the damage , so that’s a plus. Sleek, sexy, sharp and a wee bit dangerous

I bought 1 carbon steel knife and beyond any shadow of doubt I can say that those are not for me.  

Likelwise, nice looking wood handles, I just far prefer a grippy ergonomic handle because I often deal with fatty/oily meat/food, like charcuterie.  

I'd prefer to get something cheap that would last me a reasonable time, instead of something expensive to last me a lifetime.

 I know we’ll love the knife but I’m very underwhelmed to be gifting it this way to my husband, especially for the price.

 It looks like it’s been stuffed in someone’s junk drawer for a few years, the corners and edges are all beat up, plus they put the bar code sticker on the clear front panel so any appeal it had was ruined. I tried to remove it and the result of my efforts is in the above photo. I know we’ll love the knife but I’m very underwhelmed to be gifting it this way to my husband, especially for the price.

Presentation is trash

Of all the knives I have used, this is my favorite. From the moment you pick it up, you'll realize the weight compared to popular brands that are made produced for people that don't know any better. However, you should do your research about knives in general and understand what your preference is. You must know what you need to get the most out of this tool

Good is an understatement.

  De-boning a whole chicken takes half the time without it looking like I ran it through a meat grinder when I'm done.  I like the look and feel of this knife, and won't try to go into all of the technical details like I'm an informed knife connoisseur, because I'm not. I'm just someone who likes to cook for my family, and in that capacity this was a good investment. I hope to add to this knife in the future and eventually have a set
